Our ethos
Northwood Hills Evangelical Church began in 1948 and Fairfield is now in its third building on the same site. We have always been an independent church but we link up enthusiastically with other local churches who share our Gospel convictions, irrespective of denominational links through the Evangelical Alliance and other groups both nationally and internationally.
Our vision
All to Jesus
Our purpose is- to glorify God our Creator and King
- by bringing everything under Christ's leadership
- with the enabling of the Holy Spirit
We do this in the confidence that as the Lord Jesus is lifted up, he will draw all sorts of people to himself.
As we enjoy God, benefiting from his kindness, our love for him will grow and overflow to everyone to the praise of his glorious grace.
What we believe
Fairfield's doctrinal basis focuses on the core elements of the Christian faith. Therefore, we believe in:
- God as the creator of all men and the Father of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
- The Lord Jesus Christ as the only Son of God, redeemer of the world and the one mediator through faith in whom alone we obtain forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
- The incarnation, death, resurrection, ascension and coming again of the Lord Jesus Christ
- God the Holy Spirit whose life and gifts are essential in the life of the Christian and the life of the church
- The fact of sin, and the necessity of the death of Christ to bring us into peace with God
- The whole Bible as the inspired word of God
The Leadership Team
The elders have primary responsibility for leading and feeding the church through the ministry of God's word. They are assisted by other Leadership Team members appointed from the congregation.
